Degree Programs in Culinary Arts

Prepare to please the palate and satisfy the senses with the skills you’ll develop in Baker College’s Culinary Institute of Michigan. Featuring cutting edge kitchen and food prep facilities in our Muskegon and Port Huron campus locations, we offer three Associate of Applied Science (AAS) programs to help you pursue your culinary dreams. 

You’ll learn from industry experts as you pursue your studies for Baking and Pastry, Culinary Arts, and Food and Beverage Management. Each program is designed to get you up and running quickly, averaging just four semesters to complete. Upon graduation, you’ll be well positioned to advance or begin your culinary career, creating memorable dining experiences for satisfied patrons the world over.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Baking and Pastry

What could be sweeter than a degree that focuses on both the art of baking delicious desserts and pastries and the business skills that keep the ovens lit. Your 60-credit-hour program takes place in industry relevant facilities where you will learn from culinary professionals in small sized classes for more one-on-one attention to your skill development. Coursework covers everything from inventory control and staff selection to fundamentals of chocolate, confections, cake, and other classic pastries.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Culinary Arts

Heat up your cooking skills with a degree that also covers all aspects of restaurant operations. In small classes for more personalized learning opportunities, our faculty of chefs and culinary professionals will help you develop expertise in everything from menu planning to plating culinary works of dining art. Coursework for your 60-credit-hour associate degree program is designed to help you pursue your career goals as a sous chef, chef de cuisine, or even food service director.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Food and Beverage Management

Why put limits on your future? This 60-credit-hour program is designed to help you prepare for a host of food and beverage management leadership roles, whether that’s managing one restaurant or supervising the operations of an entire chain of restaurants, bars, resorts, etc. Coursework for your program covers food sustainability, culinary math, table service, menu planning, hospitality financial management, and more to help you get your management career cooking.
